Welcome back ParaGolfers:
Happy Spring! On behalf of the Board of Management, welcome back our returning members and extend a warm welcome to our new members. Each year, we start this letter by stating that golfing with ParaGolf Ontario (PGO) is going to be an exciting year, and this year is no different.
On May 17 at 10:00 am, we will hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the club house before the Fanshaw Tournament in London. This is not just a meeting but a crucial opportunity for you to share your thoughts with the Board, gain a comprehensive understanding of the club’s finances and listen to the candidates who are running for the Board. We value your input and encourage all members to consider running for the open seats. Interested parties can send their nominations to the PGO Secretary, Brandon Wright, at bmw7009@gmail.com. As a token of our appreciation, all members attending the AGM will receive a welcoming gift featuring our new logo.
ParaGolf Ontario Announces 2025 Ontario Games Adaptive Golf Open Golf Ontario is thrilled to announce the launch of the Ontario Games Open. This new championship will highlight the province’s top golfers with disabilities. The inaugural tournament will take place at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club from May 31 to June 2.“Establishing the Ontario Games Adaptive Open Championship is a significant milestone for the game of golf in Ontario,” said Kevin Potter, Vice President of ParaGolf Ontario.
“It’s an incredible feeling to know that we’re making a difference in people’s lives through this, and we can’t wait to see the people of Ontario support this championship.”
The Ontario Games Adaptive Open reflects Golf Ontario’s dedication to providing playing opportunities for golfers of all demographics, skill levels, and abilities. ParaSports Ontario initiated internal discussions last summer regarding hosting the Ontario Games Adaptive Open. Since then, Golf Ontario has engaged in research and discovery processes to ensure an authentic golf experience while minimizing limitations for players. These efforts involve regular discussions with a group of local adaptive golfers and visits to various adaptive golf tournaments.
The three-day event will commence on Sunday, May 31, with a practice round on the first day. The championship will be contested over 36 holes of stroke play; the first round is scheduled for Monday, June 1, and the second round will take place on Tuesday, June 2. A full field of 60 players is anticipated, with golfers who have physical and intellectual disabilities eligible to compete in the championship if they hold a handicap index of 36 or lower. Considerable thought went into selecting a course for the Ontario Adaptive Open Championship.
Several courses were evaluated, but Cardinal Lakes Golf Club emerged as the frontrunner. In addition to Welland’s central location, breathtaking scenery, and enthusiasm, the course boasts extensive experience in hosting major events.
The Games will house all participants in the Brock University residence. They will receive three meals a day, beginning with dinner on the night of the Opening Ceremony and registration, continuing until breakfast on the final day of competition for their sport.

Be sure to have your information readily available to ensure a smooth and efficient registration experience.
